My name is pronounced |ah-NEE-sa| and is of African and Arabic desent. From an African orgin, it means Affectionate. In Arabic it means Pleasant Companion.
And apparantly, “People with the name Anisa have a deep inner desire to inspire others in a higher cause, and to share their own…
Okay so you changed the wording. The point still remains that if you cannot pinpoint the language in which anisa means affectionate, then kindly leave it out. Those of us who actually are from African countries are beyond fed up of hearing people say “oh my name is African! It means princess!” And thenn when we’re like “oh really? in what language?” Suddenly they’re silent.
So please tell us in which African language does Anisa mean affectionate?
I read your extensive comments with the reblog of the two guys who looked alike. You are right in all the specifics you mention. What I don't get is that you use the race argument. You have to remember that you are seeing the two pictures together now and can see that "difference at first glance". If that same situation happened to you, no matter what race the person in front of you was, you would not see the difference at first glance either. The men had the same name and date of birth.
One stood in front of him, his look-a-like was not present to make the smart observations you made by looking at pictures of the two men. Now you made it seem that those who could barely see the difference were racist, which to me is a harsh statement to make. And I am black myself. Just wanted to share this because your comment really bothered me in the way it played the race card.
I did not mention race to say that those who did not immediately see the difference were racist. I mentioned race because I have noticed that people who live in certain countries (specifically America) seem to (or claim to) be unable to differentiate members of other races (especially if they are Asian or Black).
I come from Nigeria, a country where everyone is black. Maybe that’s why I immediately could tel the difference. They look very different to me.
I mentioned race because it really annoys me that Americans (especially white Americans ) do not think it is necessary to put in the effort to differentiate people. If you know how many times people have told me ‘i thought you were this person (someone that does not look like me in any way shape or form)” or called me by someone else’s name. It is so annoying. it’s as if any two black women with the same hairstyle can now be interchanged as the same person. And ever since I came here I have seen them do it to Asians too in the most ridiculous and humiliating of ways.
I am not saying that all white americans do this, but a significant portion of them do. and other americans do it too. black americans do it to Africans as well.
I’m not racist, I’m really not. My father may be, but I love people of all colors. Black, white, tan, hell, you could be green for all I care.
I do hate niggers though. Yes, the word is offensive. Do I apply it to simply Africans? Not at all. You can be one of any color.
You know what I mean, the trashy, ignorant people, those who usual think they’re “ghetto” or “gangsta”
There are niggers who are white, black, asian, mexican, australian, you name it. So no, I am not racist. I love people of all races, and all sexualities. I hate niggers, and that does not make me racist.
Just had to rant.
Dear 15 y/o white girl,
THIS IS NOT OKAY.
That word has a long history of oppression that you don’t get to ignore, that you don’t get to pretend isn’t there.
Cut the shit and STFU.
Dear 15 year old girl. You can say whatever you like. HOWEVER, if I ever hear you use the word “African” in any of your ignorant statements again, I will show the real meaning of some things that are African. You think those whips you have in the USA are fancy huh? Just wait. Mention “Africa” or “African” again and I will find you and have a Hausa Mallam from Sokoto flog you to within an inch of your life with a Nigerian bulala.
You have experienced NOTHING in life until you feel the bite of a bulala.
For starters, white privilege is a label made by white people, for white people. Almost as hypocritical as WhiteWhine.com, who is [fairly, if not really] rich and attacks people who complain about their lives, white privilege is something that exists by imperialism and thousands upon thousands of years of colonization and imperialism. This is also called first world privilege, but nobody really uses that, because then we would probably all need to shut our traps.
I made a post a while back explaining that true equality comes when people stop trying to put one person over the other. Gay pride parades, black history month, and so on. We don’t have white history month, or hetero pride parades, and all that, because there would be complaints about discrimination and the like. It’s gotten to the point where if you don’t agree with their points about how everyone should be politically correct as to not offend anyone, that they’ve invented an entire vocabulary for all sorts of words that pretty much label you as any number of things from ableist to ageist to cisgender, and then the common ones like homophobe or sexist.
Now obviously my take on all of this is that the more we try to become politically correct, the farther we drag ourselves from true equality.
But let’s slim this down to racism. Because it’s a nice issue that people can glance over, but not really take into consideration. Now the granted idea is that blacks, African Americans, what have you, are the minority. And as such, are prone to racism and discrimination, as made obvious by crimes and such. But start going to sites such as World Star Hip Hop, or even youtube-ing videos about black fights, and you’ll see that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of videos of black people wailing on each other and on whites.
I’m not calling on a white revolution. But if the tables were turned, had these videos been of white people beating on blacks or something similar, there would definitely be a bigger outcry than you and I think.
One video, this one depicts a white guy, and a white trash woman (I’m going to ahead and say it, the woman is obviously either drunk or stupid), getting thrashed by a huge group of blacks in front of their place. Can you just imagine what would happen if the colors of their skin were reversed? This would have been the hate crime of the century.
And yet, even then, we’re still the scape goats. You blame racism, sexism, discrimination on the “majority”, and blot out the fact that there is an obvious bias towards minorities, and if you make a differing statement or action to their rights or well being, you are discriminatory.
I also found it was quite prevalent in the 2008 election and campaign run. When Obama was running for president, and people questioned who he was or what his agenda was, a big question people seemed to throw around, was whether or not the people didn’t like him for the color of his skin. A question that obviously should be left out, but people continued to throw racism around to deter arguments, even when it had no place in talks.
The fact of the matter is, that even though racism against whites is not as well known, it is a fact that you can take anyone that is a “majority” or “privileged” and blame them for the problems of the world.
This is where true equality comes in, and why you morons fighting for all these special privileges for minorities are going about it all wrong. I’ve stated it once, and I’ll state it again, the only way you’re going to get true equality is by leveling the playing field. Judge no one, not even if they are a “majority” or “privilege”.
TL;DR - Racism against everyone happens, treat everyone equally and giveno one a higher right than others.
Any time a white person brings up hip-hop or an incident of a black person assaulting a white person, you know they’re about to link violence as an inherent trait of skin color just so they can justify their racist viewpoints.
I can’t believe this person is arguing that anti-racism is “bias towards minorities.”
I think that video that Clifford linked to was unfortunate and I certainly empathised and felt very sad and disappointed watching it. HOWEVER, Clifford asks: “What if the video had been the other way round?” (i.e. a group of white people attacking and beating up a black lady and a black boy). Well guess what Clifford? IT ALREADY HAPPENED! MANY MANY TIMES! TO MANY MANY PEOPLE! So while I do not believe per se that the people in the video ‘deserved it’ (after all I don’t know what the argument was about and even if there was going to be a fight, ganging up against one person is unfair), I really cannot join you in thinking that somehow the events of that video are strange and magical and are only just occurring because of the presence of black people.
Afterall, if you want to go there, White people have already amply demonstrated through their collective actions that they are capable of barbarity, crudeness and animalistic behaviour beyond limits of human comprehension. Who threw innocent black BABIES into swamps and rivers to bait alligators so they could hunt them? White people. Who ganged up against and dragged innocent black men to their deaths torturing them in the vilest and most unimaginable ways possible in the process? White people. Who murdered black children for FUN?!? Ditto. Who raped black women for FUN? Exactly. Who went to great lengths to persuade everyone that non-white people were not human beings and so should be treated like animals and even went to the lengths of publishing papers and writing textbooks all to spread their mentally degraded views? I think we all know who.
Seriously Clifford, Do. Not. Even. Go. There. Because if you want to point fingers at different races in order to identify who is the least human or most uncivilised or barbaric of us all, I think we all know who is already high in the running based on their WORLD WIDE record of Theft, Deceit, Brutality, Oppression, Rape, Murder, Fraud, Forceful Occupation, etc of others. There is NO population of non-White people in the world that has not had the pleasure of experiencing the above mentioned characteristics of Whites as a group so you really have some gumption to come out and try to make out that somehow life is “unfair to you” because you don’t have a special month assigned to you.
Do you even know how sad it is that black people have to have a special month to celebrate them?
What does that tell you? That they aren’t celebrated all the other months of the year to the point that they have to make out special time to do it or it won’t happen.
EVERY month is White history month. EVERY television channel is the White Entertainment channel. EVERY magazine is White People’s magazine. There is NOTHING in this world that non-white people can have for themselves that has not been touched by the long arm of your race so thank you for not even realising that you belong to a race of people that for the past five hundred or so years has made it their most urgent business to crush every other race of human beings beneath their boots and not only subjugate all non-white people but to constantly remind them through every means possible (tv, magazines, society, job market, etc) that they are oppressed and are allowed no dignity because they are not white and therefore not human.
Give me a break and cry me a fucking river. Maybe when you are born as a black person in your next life and you go through life being shit on left right and centre and being treated as if your link to humanity is rather tenuous, maybe then you will finally understand.
I really really wish there was some kind of magic that could turn White people who whine about the miniscule privilege they have to give up into black people or other people of colour and force them to live like that for five years. It would really open your eyes to see all the terrible things your race has done in this world and the terrible effects that continue to affect people and destroy or damage lives.
I am not saying that it is YOUR PERSONAL FAULT for the things that your race COLLECTIVELY did, but I am saying that YOU are still enjoying the benefits of what they did and what they continue to do and since you are not speaking up about it then that means that it is okay with you (which is not surprising because racism was set up to benefit people who look like you). That you benefit from racism is partly not your fault, but it is WRONG of you to try and make out that everything is on a level playing field and that non-white people are somehow being promoted over you or getting benefits that you are not.
Look around you. .. in fact, you know what? I’m tired of explaining this. Believe what you want to believe and good luck. Just pray hard that you are still white the next time around.
